VintruVian Estates, under the Crama Olt Terra label, is part of Romania’s wave of quality-minded, boutique wine producers. Based in the Drăgășani region near the Olt River, they focus on layering traditional Romanian varieties (like Negru de Drăgășani) with international classics. Their efforts emphasise sustainable viticulture, hand harvesting, selective sorting, and balanced oak use. The team aspires to showcase local terroir through thoughtful blending and modern winemaking. Deep and brooding, this Romanian red opens with ripe blackcurrant, plum and a flicker of sour cherry, framed by cedar, tobacco and a brush of wild herbs. Cabernet Sauvignon (60%) lends dark fruit and structure, while Negru de Drăgășani (40%) brings spice and regional character. The palate is firm yet refined, with fresh acidity and a savoury edge that lifts the richness. A lingering finish of graphite, black fruit and soft spice seals the deal - bold, polished, and distinctly Balkan.
